Geek Nirvana
I'm back! A little tired, a little soggy but, back. I just finished watching "Cool Hand Luke" and now I am going to watch "The History of Chain Gangs" on the history channel. It is sort of like geek nirvana.

A new (fresh out of treatment) sponsee
Sam's friend Alex inviting him over for the afternoon yesterday
Summer off
Lots of library programs this summer
Good health
A kick ass corn crop (well no actual corn but, the salks look awesome).
Anyhow in my research, I discovered that the object of my affections, Paul Simon turns 65 in October. Yeegads! He is almost as old as my mother in law for goodness sake. I think it is pretty clear that I need a meeting.

Home is Where the Magnets Are I love refrigerator magnets! Hokey as they are, I love them.
When we moved across the country a few years ago, I could not find our Minneapolis refrigerator magnets for about ten months. I knew I was home when I finally unpacked the last magnet.
My Mom said she learned how to swim when someone took her out in the lake and threw her off the boat. I said, Mom, they weren't trying to teach you how to swim. --Paula Poundstone
That Bitch, Edie Brickell
When I was younger, make that younger and drunk, I had this thing for Paul Simon. I have always like short men. Even though, we lived in different states and never meet it seemed logical to me at the time.
One day, in a drunken fog I heard on the radio that he had married or was dating Edie Brickell. Or as she came to be known in my world, that bitch Edie Brickell. Who the hell is she; I asked myself, some stupid one hit wonder? New Bohemian’s my ass!”
Just the other day I read that Paul Simon and Edie Brickell have been married 14 years and have three children. It will never last.!

Gratitude List
Its not raining(yet)
Chuck came home early from work
Our porch is almost done
Sam only has one more week to ride the school bus with the Evil Daisha
Summer Reading
On Tuesday afternoon the summer reading list for incoming second graders came home in Sam's backpack. Sam and I looked at it together and then I hung it on the giant magnetic clip on the refrigerator.
After supper Chuck went off to a men's group and I asked Sam if he would like to go to the library. I had forgotten about the summer reading. He said sure that he wanted to get some summer reading books. I assumed that he was confused and thought the book were due before school ends on June,16. "You know they are not due until next fall," I said. "I know," he said, " I just want to get them done early." I must admit that I looked at him twice to make sure he was really mine.

Worried About a Friend
The rain woke me up. The last six weeks has been rain punctuated by periods of heat and humidity. Both my garden and my allergies are going nuts.
I am worried.
A good friend of mine, with a lot of “time” is really struggling with some other addictions and “issues.” She is in serious trouble from one of her addictions yet, she never shares it in meetings. Nor does she go to the 12 Step group for that issue. Last week we were in a meeting together and she was all, “I am so glad I waited for my miracle.” Meanwhile, I know that she is very active in this other addiction and physical health, mental health and finances are in the toilet. She is too busy running A.A. to share at it I guess.
