  Concerta
On Friday Sam was finally diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Disorder or A.D.D. She said he was borderline on also having hyperactivity. As some of you know, I have been worried about Sam for a while. So hopefully this diagnose will help provide the solution I have been looking for.

His doctor put him on a medication called Concerta. Concerta is essentially time released Ritalin. It is amazing the effect it had on him! About a half hour after I gave him his first dose he started cleaning his room. I kid you not! Then he spent an hour and a half drawing charters for a comic book that he created.

It is amazing what drugs can do when they are prescribed by a doctor and taken as directed. I don't know about you but, my drugs were rarely prescribed by a doctor and never taken as directed.

Comments:
concerta is really good stuff. i had a few kids on it at the home, and they were fantastic. best of luck with sam.

That's very good news. I wish him the best, healthwise. He's already got a great Mom and Dad.

meeting. tomorrow. 10. thanks.

I have seen a lot of my students be successful while on Concerta. Good luck!

hey! my bean's been on ritalin for 3 years. i was very, very hesitant to put him on it, but i'm glad i eventually did. saved him and me a lot of arguing and fighting. he's a changed boy. he calls them his brain vitamins. and luckily he's had no side-effects.

I'm glad that Sam saw the doctor and has something that helps with the problem.

That's wonderful, Trudge. I am happy for both you and Same. The real benefits show up during school. My son now has the ability to live up to his potential because of Concerta. And his confidence came back....

Trudge - did your doctor mention anything to you about Cognative Therapy for Sam too ?
Great to read you are able to see postive results for your kiddo!
Thanks for sharing.

I pray Sam gets some relief from this med.

I hope so too, I know it can help immediately

Prayers get answered. Give Sam a hug.

trudge, i am happy to hear this for your sam. i hope that it continues to serve him well.

OMG, Trudge! If I ever had any doubts about a Higher Power in my life... AAngel was just diagnosed with ADD, and prescribed 'Concerta'.
I think I'll get her Px today- her room is a MESSSS!!!
Hey, if ya have a minute, I'd love you to stop by and sign my guestbook...

Hey. La Petite has been taking Concerta since the second grade and he is going into seventh in September. It makes a huge difference in his ability to perform and concentrate. He is way over the "line" in the hyperactivity section, and it makes a huge difference. Try to keep him focused on his organizational skills as well, this is still a real tuff area for La Petite and it gets more difficult the older he gets and the more difficult the work load becomes. You are a great Mommy and Sam is lucky to have you!

My name is Irene Pak and i would like to show you my personal experience with Concerta.

I am 60 years old. I have been taking concerta for three days now. So far it is wonderful. I was previously on ritalin for 2 months, and felt like I was on rollercoaster. I would go from jittery to severly depressed and crying. After changing to concerta three days ago, I feel like myself again, only with much more energy focus and concentration. I am sure hoping this will continue. I am on 36mg.

I have experienced some of these side effects-
mild headache, dry mouth, some affect on sleep

I hope this information will be useful to others,
Irene Pak
