He is risen! I keep wondering who posted the picture of Anne Smith, Dr. Bob's wife. We certainly can be thankful to her for the major input of ideas she brought to the early A.A. fellowship. She was called the "Mother of A.A." and had a legendary ability with newcomers. She also formed the first women's group in 1936 to meet the special needs of that segment. And every morning she held forth to AAs and their families with her Quiet Time on the porch of the Smith home at 855 Ardmore in Akron. Anne's daughter, Sue Smith Windows, told me that the early folks said they came to Anne's morning sessions for their "spiritual pablum." She was nurse, evangelist, servant, hostess, friend, and a true helper without pay. For more details, see Dick B., Anne Smith's Journal, 1933-1939. That contains her profile and the great material she put in her journal and shared with the pioneers and others. http://www.dickb.com/annesm.shtml
