Outright Mental Defective: The Secret Life of Harry Houdini

When I was a kid, I read everything I could on Harry Houdini. I think the amateur escape artist (in other words an alcholic) in me admired his professional status. No, he was not "one of us" but some people now think he was a spy. A new biography of Houdini "The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero" suggests that he worked for both Scotland Yard and the US Secret Service. Click here to read more.

I visited the official Houdini museum last year. It was a non-event, to say the least. I don't even remember what town it was in. I think it was in Wisconsin. (Not nearly as cool as if it were in South Dakota!)
