  Six Degrees of Fame
Kel's forty questions has started me on a self disclosure bender. So, I have a new question to tag all of you with. The question is, what famous (or near famous) people you have met?

When I was in college, I met William F. Buckley Jr. The year was 1985 or 1986 and I was drunk. Go figure! All I really remember is he had terrible teeth. I remember thinking, you are rich, go get them fixed. I was such a tolerant and accepting young woman in those days.

Comments:
Cool! I have only met infamous people...

Interesting.
About 12 years ago, I met Jesse Jackson in an elevator in Lagos, Nigeria. I made a very smart-ass comment to him during that 30-second ride to the ground-floor).
A few days ago while in NYC, I ran into him again while eating in a deli. I said nothing this time.

Ah, restraint of pen a tounge! Now this is progress.

I never met Jesse but, he did speak at my college. It was right around the time of his Hymie Town remark, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymie

Hey guys! I met John Witherspoon once at a Bucs Football game last year. Yes, I was a bit tipsy, but he was just sitting there and I was like: "Hey! Aren't you that guy from Friday with the odor removal bottle in the bathroom!" Any whooo, here is the link:

When I was 11 or 12 years old I met the singer Meatloaf at the Broadway production of Grease, my brother dared me to talk to him, so I ran up to him and asked, "Are you Meatloaf?", he said, yes, and I ran awy in a fit of giggles. A few weeks ago, I met Jets Quarterback Chad Pennington at a local movie theatre. He was with his wife and babies. He was really nice to my kids, he shook their hands and gave autographs. I also met a young tv actor who played one of the obnoxious young doctors on ER a few years ago for a season or two. But I don't remember his name. Does that still count?

Buddy Hackett. He was cute and very polite.

Divine at a movie opening.

When I was a waiter I waited on:
Dina Merrill
Roberta Peters
Rosie Greer
The Virginian, forgot his name but he was an ASSHOLE
Robert Mitchum
the Happy Days cast

Big Bird when I was like 7. I was so scared of him then, but religiously wanted Sesame Street (ok, I still do).

Other than that, no one else.

I recently met the CHeetah Girls with Bayleigh- have the picture

I have met Jewel- have the picture

I met Tal Bacchman _have the autograph he sings "She's so high above me.. it was big back in 1999

I met Shawn Mullins- have the autograph- he sings Rock a Bye... big in 1999

met Dido... have the autpgraph

met gary Holt the lead guitarist on Exodus - a metal band from 1988

I think thats it
my mom got to meet Ricky Nelson, he kissed her on the cheek
and she met Donald Sutherland

I met Henry Kissinger coming out of the toilet on an airplane from Brussels to somewhere in the USA.

Saw & spoke to Robert Redford in Salt Lake City airport as he waited for his soon to be ex wife while she shopped.

Laid down a set of tracks on some uncut powder in my youth, only to be later introduced as the guy who did so to Jean Claude Killy.

Met & had dinner with Mars Bonfire, who is dating a friend. Ok, who doesn't know that Mars Bonfire wrote "Born to be Wild"

My shirtail relative Dan Mortenson is off and on the world's leading Saddle Bronc rider.

How is that for an eclectic mix of the well known or not. It also shows my age, as I have no idea who 1/2 the people Shannon mentioned even are. Except Ricky Nelson....

Oh and Trudging, thanks for the offer, but since you mentioned it, I can create the list in word and then paste.

All people from England have nasty teeth.

I met George Thorogood and it was really yucky. I am not really into celeb stalking and not even a fan of Mr. Thorogood. My friends mother who is a musician heard he was at a local bar informally and we all sped to meet him. I didn't care for him. That is my only experience.

My father was an extra in the movie IQ. If you have seen it Dad is the one Meg Ryan is hiding behind during the lecture. That was really cool to see my old man up on the screen in the theatre. His two minutes of fame.

I also went to school with the guys from Ween. I semi~famous rock band.

Thanks to my former job, I've met (and worked with) lots of famous folks ...

The band U2
Oprah
Donny Osmond
Bill Gates
Jay Leno
David Spade
Conan O'Brien

... are some I remember off the top of my head. Lots of writers. Lots of bands and musicians of varying fame, including brunch with Bob Mould in NYC which was a hoot. Oh and Dick Dale -- King of the Surf Guitar -- pinched my ass!

Dang it! I only ever hung out with one super dooper rock star celeb, but I met him at an AA meeting, so I can't tell you who he is!

When I was 8 y.o. I got to meet Coretta Scott King. She traveled to my school to see me and ask if she could read a letter I had written to her following MJK, Jr's death on a radio show. I remember her kneeling down so she could look in my eyes. She was very soft spoken, very beautiful. She told me she would always keep that letter in her special box for special things.
I have met others, but she is the only one worth the mention really.
Peace,
Scout

Joel Gray
I was surprised he looked so old--stage makeup does wonders from a distance but up close--thats another story

then he got up on a tabletop and danced, awesome

Man, you all got good stories but, I think Scout takes it.

Indeed Scout, how cool is that? Touched by an Angel you were.

I've the members of a band called Queensryche, the guy who was Coach on the TV series (forgot his name), and some others but I forget now.

Scout, that is AWESOME! Did you keep a copy of your letter? I am just *beaming* thinking of your little 8 year-old self, and her (your) beautiful heart.
