I Need Your Prayers
I really need your prayers over the next week or so. I am getting sued over one of my student loans and I have a legal thing(creditor examination hearing) tomorrow. Then Tuesday I have a job interview and Friday I have second job interview. Just pray for God's will.

Joe hired me to do title searches for him. Before you get all excited, he hired me to do the same thing about a year and a half ago. Then he flaked out on me. He kept extending my start date for weeks and weeks. Then when he decided he had work for me I had another commitment. He was not happy and talked to me about my lack of commitment. I am taking this one as it comes.

In the past few days I have realized something about me that I never thought was true. I have realized that despite my impeccable liberal pedigree, I am arrogant American. I am not proud of this self realization.
As an arrogant American however, I rarely think of any place outside the U.S. In addition, I subconsciously believe that the United States is the epicenter of the entire world. Likewise on some level, I believe that the world does and should revolve around us. So who am I to criticize George W. Bush when on some level I do the same thing?

Book Game from chrkosHere are the rules:1. Grab the nearest book2. Open the book to page 123. Find the fifth sentence4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences (#5,6,7) on your blog, along with these instructions.5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it. Just grab what is closest. No cheating. If anyone plays the Book Game on their blog, let me know--it will be interesting
With your adult partner think of a way to conserve water or electricity and do it for one week. Here are two suggestions: Collect rain water and use the water for plants in your home. Turn off the lights and turn off the T.V. and radio when you are not in the room. Cub Scout Tiger Cub Handbook, page 123
I Need Your Help
I was really touched by all the comments on yesterday’s gratitude list. You guys are awesome! Now I need your help. I want to do my best to stand out in this second interview I have on the February 3. Does anyone have any suggestions of things they did to stand out when getting a job? That said, now I need to let go of it.

Job Interview Update
Well they kept my resume but, I don’t think they read it.
The position they interviewed me for is, a job in my general field. It however, requires a very dissimilar skill set. I did my best to convince them of my general knowledge and the transferability of the skills. I do not think I did a very good job. Anyhow, all I have to worry about is doing the next right thing. Right?

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."--Melody Beattie
God Opened a Window
Minutes after writing my last post, I got called about my last job interview. Its is a flukie thing. I actually applied for another job with the same organization early last fall. You know when employers tell you that they are going to keep your resume on file but, they are lying. Well this time they were not lying. Wish me luck!!!

Sam and Chuck are going on Sam's first Cub Scout Camp-in tonight. All that means is they are sleeping overnight in the church hall where they have their regular meetings. The important thing however, Mom is staying home. A Friday night to myself. Do I hear an amen!
Magic Wand of Motherhood
You know what I wish? I wish that motherhood came equipped with a magic wand. If I had this magic wand I would tap Sam and he would immediately see things through the eyes of an emotionally healthy 35 year old.
There is this kid named Jose who picks on Sam. According to Jose, Sam lives in the wrong house, has the wrong color hair and rides the wrong kind of bike. I know that Jose and his parents live in a modest apartment, his parents do not speak much English and I am not sure if he even has a bike.
I try to explain that maybe Jose does not feel very good about himself, that maybe people have told him that it is wrong to have black hair or to be chubby. That maybe he feels embarrassed because his parents don't speak English. It is hard to do however, with out infecting Sam with the underlying bigotry of our culture. Now where is that damn magic wand!

Feeling physically good today(I was sick Monday and Tuesday)
Starting the day on my knees
Being relieved of the bondage of self(if only for a moment)
Getting turned down for that job interview yesterday
I Am Doing Fine
I am fine, thank you all for asking. I had a very good birthday.
I have not blogged because, I have had some family stuff going on. Do you remember my step father in law who died right after Christmas. His only son was indicted this week for defrauding the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York along with several government agencies. It is a big ugly mess and my mother in law is trying to do right by her step son. We, likewise are trying to do right by my mother in law.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I am not exactly sure how I feel about tomorrow being my birthday. No matter how I feel about my birthday, it will still be my birthday. Acceptance is the answer to all my birthdays today.
